At Tweed Heads Appliance Parts & Repairs (THAP) we believe in and stand by the following Information Protection Principles (IPPs) which are key to the Privacy and Personal Information Protection Act 1998 (and can be found in sections 8 to 19).

Lawful and Relevant Collection using an Open Approach

• When THAP collects your personal information, the information will be collected for a reasonable and logical purpose. It will also be directly related to THAP's activities and necessary for that purpose.
   
• You will be informed that the information is being collected and why it is being collected. Although browsing trends or web page hit counts may be collected for internal statistical purposes, THAP stands against software that identifies users and their personal browsing activities, excluding the next point.
   
• Cookies are used only to keep track of the contents of your shopping cart. THAP does not use cookies for any other purpose.
   
• THAP will ensure that the information is relevant, accurate, up-to-date and not excessive. For example, THAP will collect your name, address, contact details and payment details to guarantee a smooth purchase process.

Secure Storage & Processing

Your information will be stored securely, not kept any longer than necessary, and disposed of appropriately. It will be protected from unauthorised access, use and disclosure by a 128-bit SSL secured server, a unique username and password, and a strong firewall. For example, when purchasing via a credit card, your information will be accepted and initially stored by a 128-bit secured server. It will then be accessed by THAP using a unique username and password via an encrypted tunnel to our secure system which is protected by a firewall. Once the transaction has been approved, all your credit card information is destroyed.

Accuracy and Usage

• THAP will allow you to update, correct or amend your personal information where necessary.
   
• THAP will make sure your information is accurate before using it.
   
• THAP will only use your information for the purpose for which it was collected, for a directly related purpose, or for a purpose to which you have given your consent.

Restricted and Safeguarded Disclosure

THAP will only disclose your information with your consent or if you were told at the time we collected it from you that we would do so.
